چکیده
OBJECTIVE While the apolipoprotein E ?4 allele (ApoE-?4) is related to cognitive and brain decline in general population, its effect on type 1 diabetes mellitus (T1DM) remains unclear. Therefore, aim was determine interaction between ApoE-?4 T1DM performance hippocampal structure connectivity as area most vulnerable effects adult patients with T1DM. RESEARCH DESIGN AND METHODS Blood sampling performed 104 49 control subjects for ApoE genotyping, neuropsychology, neuroimaging volume resting-state connectivity. The status presence investigated adjusted age mean systolic blood pressure. RESULTS genotyping could not be three Significant effects, indicating a differential of both groups, were found overall functioning subdomains information processing speed attention. Additionally, present right posterior cingulate supramarginal gyri. Subsequent group analysis showed that worse these domains increased connectivity, relative their counterparts without ApoE-?4. In contrast, no but decreased observed T1DM, higher hippocampus gyrus poorer functioning. CONCLUSIONS results may suggest leaves our more susceptible decrements at younger age, possibly through vascular pathways, warranting further longitudinal studies.

Cognitive functioning in young children with type 1 diabetes.
The aim of this study was to assess cognitive functioning in children with type 1 diabetes (T1D) and examine whether glycemic history influences cognitive function. Neuropsychological evaluation of 216 children (healthy controls, n = 72; T1D, n = 144) ages 4-10 years across five DirecNet sites. Cognitive domains included IQ, Executive Functions, Learning and Memory, and Processing Speed. Behavi...

OBJECTIVE The most important cause of morbidity and mortality in type 1 diabetes mellitus (DM) is atherosclerosis. Apolipoprotein E (Apo E) polymorphism is accused of being the genetic risk factor for atherosclerosis. The aim of the present study was to determine which Apo E polymorphism was related to atherosclerosis in patients with type 1 DM. METHODS Seventy-four patients with type 1 DM we...

Introduction: Caregivers play a critical role in health management of patients with chronic diseases. Caregiving is associated with experiencing different emotional and psychological problems. Objective: This study aims to determine the relationship between caregiver burden and cognitive function in adult patients with Type 2 Diabetes (T2D). Materials and Methods: In this cross-sectional stud...
متن کاملFunctional Brain Connectivity and Neurocognitive Functioning in Patients With Long-Standing Type 1 Diabetes With and Without Microvascular Complications
OBJECTIVE Hyperglycemia-associated microvascular disease may underlie changes in cerebral functioning and cognitive performance in patients with type 1 diabetes. Functional connectivity, an indicator of functional interactions and information exchange between brain regions, provides a measure of cerebral functioning. This study addresses functional connectivity and cognition in type 1 diabetic ...
